{"id":1340,"date":"2021-10-16T12:52:28","date_gmt":"2021-10-16T16:52:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/abcexplorers.com\/?p=1340"},"modified":"2021-10-16T12:52:28","modified_gmt":"2021-10-16T16:52:28","slug":"o-is-for-opportunities-at-ostego-lake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abcexplorers.com\/index.php\/2021\/10\/16\/o-is-for-opportunities-at-ostego-lake\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;O&#8221; is for Opportunities at Ostego Lake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/abcexplorers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/O.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1341\" src=\"http:\/\/abcexplorers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/O-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On an ABC Adventure, it can be hard to represent each letter.\u00a0 Such was the case with our letter &#8220;O&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>As we traveled through Northern Michigan,\u00a0 on our 2 day adventure, we realized that we were passing through the county of Ostego.\u00a0 Like with many of our challenging letter, we had left the &#8220;opportunity&#8221; to discover something new &#8220;open&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0 It meant we just needed to be &#8220;observant&#8221; as we traveled, always looking for words which we could add to our list.<\/p>\n<p>This is how we came upon the county of Ostego, which is where the town of Gaylord lies.\u00a0 Gaylord had been one of our destinations. \u00a0 With much Native American influence in this area, I researched the word Ostego.\u00a0 There are actually a great many interpretations of origin.\u00a0 One shows it meaning a &#8220;place of the rock&#8221;another means, &#8220;clear waters&#8221;.\u00a0 The county is nestled in a glacial valley, filled with over 300 lakes, making both descriptions seem accurate.<\/p>\n<p>Either way, we knew it would be worth a moment of our time as we\u00a0 pulled into the Otsego State Park and just enjoyed a few minutes of exploration around the pristine beach along Ostego Lake.\u00a0 It was the perfect excuse to get &#8220;outside&#8221; and breath.\u00a0 It had been another &#8220;outstanding&#8221; moment along our path of discovery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On an ABC Adventure, it can be hard to represent each letter.\u00a0 Such was the case with our letter &#8220;O&#8221;.
