In\u00a0our real world, Alan and I don’t drink much alcohol<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span>.\u00a0 Usually we’ll have a glass of wine\u00a0at Christmas and\u00a0a Mimosa on New Year’s Eve.\u00a0\u00a0We might\u00a0indulge in the odd wine cooler or a glass of wine with friends.\u00a0 On average, we probably have 8-10 drinks of alcohol, per <\/span>year.\u00a0\u00a0Take\u00a0us on a cruise though and we become different people, usually enjoying at least one drink a day, sometimes a lot more!\u00a0 Maybe it is the freedom\u00a0from driving, kids and work that we feel.\u00a0\u00a0But I think there is more to it than that.\u00a0 What is it about this change of environment that makes\u00a0us\u00a0alter\u00a0our behavior so radically?<\/p>\n

\"Copy<\/a>Well for one, alcohol\u00a0is readily available.\u00a0 How about a nice romantic drink on your balcony?\u00a0 Upon entering your room, you might find the refrigerator stocked with a mini bar.\u00a0 Room service will\u00a0also deliver.\u00a0\u00a0Every restaurant,\u00a0lounge, poolside and coffee shop will offer some form of alcohol.\u00a0 It is available 24 hours per day.\u00a0 Ships can sport\u00a0upwards of\u00a0twenty, uniquely themed bars and lounges.\u00a0 Many of these are specialized such as the\u00a0wine bars, martini bars, whiskey bars\u00a0and even\u00a0Japanese bars that serve Saki.\u00a0\u00a0Lounging around\u00a0the pools,\u00a0can in itself feel like a trip around the world,\u00a0with exotic drink\u00a0creations, some of them towering over a foot high, being offered!\u00a0\u00a0 Where else are you going to find so many opportunities for trying something for the first time?<\/p>\n

Architects have designed the lounges and bars to incorporate\u00a0the newest technology.\u00a0 There are sensory bars\u00a0offering a\u00a0variety of pleasing smells which drift through the air.\u00a0\u00a0Holograms projected on black canvas might mimic the inside of an aquarium. All this is\u00a0meant to relax the mind, while you rest upon one of the\u00a0curtain draped mattresses, filled with pillows.\u00a0\u00a0One might also find exotic adventures experienced by only the lucky few.\u00a0\u00a0 For example,\u00a0there are only 14 ice bars in the world, most of them in the far away Scandinavian\u00a0regions.\u00a0 Imagine\u00a0a hot day, floating in the middle of the Caribbean or Mediterranean\u00a0on your cruise ship.\u00a0 When you are ready to cool off,\u00a0 just don\u00a0a fake fur robe, hat and gloves, before entering the frozen room. Here, everything from the walls, to the\u00a0tables, stools and glasses are made out of ice!\u00a0\u00a0 Alan and I\u00a0have even cruised on one line, that offered a Cirque de Sole’ type show, with acrobatics\u00a0being performed on the tables and\u00a0railings of the bar itself, no easy feat\u00a0upon moving seas!\u00a0\u00a0 Maybe it is this\u00a0high-caliber entertainment\u00a0that makes us seek out some of these spaces.\u00a0 Take time to appreciate the effort put into helping you part with your hard-earned dollars and enjoy the show while you do.\u00a0 Suddenly that drink doesn’t feel so expensive!<\/p>\n

Wherever you go, entertainment also abounds in these spaces. Whether a deck party, music or sports is your thing, there is something for everyone.\u00a0 There\u00a0are\u00a0always plenty of sophisticated\u00a0spaces\u00a0when we want\u00a0to act like grown ups.\u00a0 Lounges and bars also offer broadway style entertainment, comedy shows, karaoke, quiz nights, lectures and a variety of musicians.\u00a0 Rest, rejuvenate, laugh and\u00a0learn.\u00a0 Oh, and go ahead and have\u00a0that glass of wine or that foot tall high drink, tomorrow is a brand new adventure and soon enough you will return to your other life!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
